Art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values.
The works directly respond to the emotions that surround the environment of sadness, loneliness, happiness and dealing with these experiences as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context.
Every year I attend Comicpalooza and I let loose on my favorite comic book heroes and Stars of entertainment and go crazy!
During my 25+ years of creating I have always wanted to create a line of Handbags, Jewelry, and Scarves.
So, now I am going to do it.
Daily I worry about the environment and what I'm doing to it. So I rty to recycle everything that I can. It's part of the hoarder in me.
Everyday I feel guilty throwing away things. It's part of my hoarder personality. So I just make art out of it.
I just love painting little furry critters. I have painted over 250+ in the past 2 years. It's been my new found love and when I'm down it brings me up!
Fine Art Paintings
My work explores the relationship between people, family, friends and lovers whom have crossed paths or no longer speaking to each other. The works directly respond to the emotions that surround the environment of sadness, loneliness, happiness and dealing with these experiences as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. By choosing mainly formal imagery, touching various overlapping themes and images, the reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relationship with a mother and daughter and the influence of culture and media, working with repetition, provocation and the investigation of the process of exploring emotion. Over the years, I have been fascinated by telling a story with images and then creating a poem for each painting. What starts out as a simple image and then combined with many other images, soon becomes debased into a noise, leaving only a sense of what could have been, what it was and the unlikelihood of a new order. As images form they become intertwined, the viewer is left with a clue to the edges of our emotional existence.
Selfies and other portraits
All artist look into the mirror and create a vision of themselves. Who they are at that moment. Over the years I have challenged myself to do as many as I can to find myself. Still have a long way to go. I have friends and family members that have asked for their own version of themselves made through my eyes. So I do it.
